Chardonnay

Chardonnay

We thought you may wish to know a little more about the world most celebrated white wine grapes. This popular white wine varietal originates from Burgundy, France. It is extensively planted in the US, especially in California. Widely grown in Burgundy, New Zealand and Australia. Loved from wine makers to connoisseurs alike for it’s wonderful acid, sugar balance.

Chardonnay display a rich butter, vanilla and slightly smoky aroma if aged in oak barrels. We just love a buttery style with a touch of oak and it pairs really well with roast chicken or pork roast.
Stainless steel fermentation techniques (you may also know as  “Sans Oak” and it is the expression as well of Chardonnay without Oak) create a fresh crisp citrus fruit flavors and you can pair it beautifully with seafood, vegetables or lighter salads. It is also the white grape varietal in French Champagne making.
This popular wine usually has medium to fuller body and shade of gold color.
Aromas and flavors include: apple – mango – pear – pineapple – hazelnut – vanilla – butter – oak – floral and sometimes even mineral over tones.
Ever since we moved to California we had the joy to taste many beautiful Chardonnay’s. Wines produced in the warmer climate of California, Burgundy or Australia will entice you with tropical fruit notes. If you like your Chardonnay “unoaked” with more citrus notes then look for cooler climate wines in the US, Loire France or Western Australia.

You just can’t go wrong with this delicious wine.

Love me some Chardonnay! This sound very creamy and buttery just the way I like it. Thank you for the great review.

    1. You would enjoy the creamy notes in this Chardonnay, Leila! Bouchaine Winery is a really great producer in the Carneros region, and we do enjoy their Pinot Noirs and Chardonnay’s.

    1. You right about the Chardonnay, Angie! We also prefer the buttery creamy style with heavier dishes and the lighter “sans oak” Chardonnay’s with salads. There is nothing better for a lovely summer party then a chilled crisp Chardonnay 🙂
