Fanucchi Wine Review – Old Vine Zinfandel 2005 from 100+ year old Vines
From the Russian River Valley, California in the Sonoma County, this Fanucchi Vineyard Old Vine Zinfandel is very special since it is made from vines that are over 100 years old from the Fanucchi-Wood Road Vineyard. Winemaker Peter Fanucchi has faithfully tended the vines for over 40 vintages. He has first learned about the winemaking process at age 9 and has been fascinated with it ever since.
This Old Vine Zinfandel has deep rich fruit notes of blackberry and cherry with a hint of spice. On the nose you also get the fruity essence and blackberry. This is a serious Zinfandel and you can taste the history of the vines in every sip.
Fanucchi Trousseau Gris
Pronounced (Troo-so-gree), this white wine has floral and stone fruit aromas with tropical notes. It is similar to a Marsanne or Viognier on the nose. On your first sip you are greeted by pear and peach flavors with a little honeysuckle by this Trousseau Gris. There are also notes of pear and honey that bring to mind a dry Gewürztraminer.
It pairs well with a variety of foods and you can even have it with spicy foods.
I love your video. You capture and convey the essence of the wine in a lively enthusiastic and understandable way not simply using the same old worn out descriptors! 🙂
Thank you Peter, we truly enjoyed reviewing this unique varietal called Trousseau Gris!
