This deliciously sweet institution has been here for over 30 years on a prime State Street location in Santa Barbara. The owners, an ever charming and lovely Mother daughter duo, are on the helm together for some time, and each leading with innovative ideas the company to higher culinary accolades.
And as good Europeans we all have great fondness for good food and for Cakes, Torts, Tarts and of course for Danish Pastries, and so Andersen’s always been a big part of our life’s here. We could not imagine a special event at home with out their famous Marzipan cake, it is to die for and worth the extra 20 minute workout the next day. So You can imagine our excitement when we first saw the Prix Fixe menu online and could not wait to visit the newly opened LISELOTTE addition.

And what got us here so fast was the delicious Prix Fixe menu which you could say had all of the essentials of a delicious California wine country meal but with a blushing dose of Danish Kiss. What we mean by that, we adore traditional dishes with a pinch of personality.
Andersens

This event was an excellent way to introduce the new just completed restaurant addition LISELOTTE to our and all the other diners delight. For one thing, where else here in town you can entertain your senses with good food and wine in a charming setting for a very attractive price. Our foursome was lead to a table with crisp white tablecloth adorned with vases filled of pretty little pink flowers. Right by the wine shelves to our immense delight.

So we choose 4 different dishes from the Prix Fixe menu for your benefit (more beautiful photos) and because all sounded extremely delicious. The executive chef and part-owner Mrs. Andersen comes out to greet the patrons and make sure that the team of quite charming servers execute everything to the diners likings.

The Starters

Smoke Salmon

Smoked Salmon ~ With Smoked salmon tartar relish, an top havarti cheese , crusty bread, and Fabulous dillsauce. Judit tried this one and enjoyed the balanced flavors.

Herb Salad

Herb salad ~ With Mint, cilantro, arugula, tarragon, watercress, tossed in house balsamic herb vinaigrette, Crumble blue cheese. This was Corina’s choice for a refreshing starter.

Mushroom Crepe

Rosemary buttery crepe ~ With pulled pork, glazed mushrooms, goatcheese, portwine reduction. Both Paul and Ian had the crepes.. and both Judit and Corina stole a few bites. This a must try!

It’s a splendid idea to have a Prix Fixe menu because if you are out tonight to relax you might not feel like choosing from a long menu or from a wine list. With the menu you have wine suggestions and have to tell you our Petit Syrah from Michael David Winery, Lodi was very delightful with all of our dishes. From the salads to main and to dessert, thank you Charlotte you chose well!

Entrees

Cilantro Salmon

Cilantro Salmon ~ Filet of salmon, encrusted in cilantro, herb pansauteed potatoes, garden vegetables with Lemon sauvignon blanc sauce.

Corina adored the crunchy crust on her salmon and is a fan of herb potatoes.

Pot Roast

Pot roast – beef fricassee ~ Tender slowcooked fall apart beef, extraordinary syrah demiglaze, garlic potato puree. Paul’s beef was remarkably tender with deep slow cooked flavors.

Chicken Piccata

Chicken piccata ~ Tender chicken breast, pan sautéed, lemon caper chardonnay sauce, garden vegetables, Penne pasta. Judit loved the citrus flavors of the chicken.

Duck

Scandinavian Duck ~ Roasted to perfection, tender and juicy, and very lean, sweet and sour red cabbage, baked apple, new potato, our famous portwine reduction. Our friend Ian had the Duck, and his discriminating palate was pleased with the selection.

And if you decide to order from the regular menu, no matter how satisfying your meal was you have to leave room for dessert. We are sure that you can find something from the tantalizing dessert menu or if you really reached your limit for the evening, then take one of the daily made fresh pies or our favorite the butter ring home for breakfast. Or take a Chocolate, chocolate Charlotte for midnight snack They are utterly delicious and you won’t be disappointed.

Desserts

Chocolate Cake

Chocolate, chocolate, Charlotte. This one was very very popular at our table.

Ice Cream

Vanilla icecream with shot of espresso. Also very delicious and creamy.

Crew

With the great crew.
